Hon. Alexander Afenyo-Markin

The Leader of the NPP Parliamentary Caucus, Alexander Afenyo-Markin, has charged members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to unite with single-minded determination. Speaking on the party’s long-term strategic posture following the political realignments of recent national elections, the Minority Leader stressed that internal harmony remains the non-negotiable bedrock required to mounted a formidable challenge against the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC). His declaration serves as an unequivocal rally cry designed to galvanize grassroots organizers, parliamentary leadership, and party stalwarts across all sixteen regions.

Afenyo-Markin reaffirmed the party’s unwavering confidence in its leadership, explicitly framing the political horizon around the presidential ambition of Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia. Emphasizing that political victory demands collective sacrifice rather than individual ambitions, he declared, "We will stand together, work together, and deliver together." According to the caucus leader, the NPP’s core objective is not merely to offer spirited parliamentary opposition, but to build a robust, countrywide consensus capable of reclaiming the governance mandate and ultimately ensuring Dr. Bawumia is sworn in as President of the Republic of Ghana in January 2029.

The Minority Leader’s remarks underscore a broader institutional strategy designed to systematically critique NDC governance while presenting the NPP as a disciplined alternative ready to manage the nation's affairs. By focusing party energies on strategic grassroots organization, policy debate, and parliamentary vigilance, Afenyo-Markin noted that the opposition front would hold the government accountable on key economic and social development benchmarks. He cautioned party loyalists against complacency and divisive internal rhetoric, urging every wing of the party from youth organizers to executive committees to channel their efforts into building a coherent electoral campaign ahead of the 2028 general elections.

As the NPP sets its sights on the next electoral cycle, Afenyo-Markin’s words signal a crucial period of internal realignment and active mobilization. By positioning Dr. Bawumia’s leadership as the cornerstone of the party's future government vision, the minority leadership aims to reassure supporters that the path back to Jubilee House is grounded in discipline, unity, and effective leadership. With a clear operational roadmap anchored on collective effort, the NPP intends to convert its parliamentary strength into a winning national momentum that restores public trust and delivers decisive political victory.
