Law Society of Ghana is Non-Partisan, Not an ‘NDC Bar Association’ – Rockson-Nelson Dafeamekpor

​The President of the Law Society of Ghana (LSG) and Member of Parliament for South Dayi, Hon. Rockson-Nelson Dafeamekpor, has strongly rejected claims that the newly established legal organization is affiliated with the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC). Speaking on the mandate and vision of the society, Dafeamekpor expressed concern over attempts to label the group along political lines, describing it as "unfortunate" for anyone to view the professional body through a partisan lens.

​Hon. Dafeamekpor emphasized that the Law Society of Ghana was founded to foster professional excellence, inclusivity, and legal reform, rather than to serve any political agenda. He stressed that the leadership remains firmly committed to maintaining the society's independence and ensuring that it operates strictly as a non-partisan platform for all legal practitioners across the country, regardless of their political convictions.

​To dispel lingering public misperceptions, the South Dayi lawmaker noted that the LSG will actively focus on championing human rights, supporting legal education, and providing an alternative voice on critical national issues. By maintaining an open-door policy for all lawyers and taking principled stances on legal matters, the association aims to build public trust and establish itself as a objective advocate for the rule of law.

​Concluding his remarks, Dafeamekpor urged legal practitioners and the public to judge the Law Society of Ghana by its actions and contributions to legal practice rather than unsubstantiated political associations. He reaffirmed that the society will continue to collaborate with all relevant stakeholders in the administration of justice while safeguarding its autonomy as an independent bar association.
