The Member of Parliament for North Dayi, Hon. Joycelyn Tetteh, participated in the 6th African Youth SDGs Summit held at the University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA), under the theme, “Reimagining Africa Through Youth-Driven Solutions.” The high-profile gathering brought together young leaders, policymakers, development practitioners, academics, entrepreneurs, and development partners from across Africa and the diaspora to deliberate on innovative approaches to sustainable development and the future of the continent.

The summit served as an important platform for dialogue on practical pathways towards achieving the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the aspirations outlined in Agenda 2063, the African Union’s blueprint for transforming Africa into a prosperous and integrated continent.

Participants shared experiences, innovative ideas, and success stories aimed at addressing some of the continent’s most pressing challenges, including unemployment, climate change, education, and economic inclusion.

Speaking during the event, Hon. Joycelyn Tetteh underscored the critical role of young people in shaping Africa’s future. She stressed the need to create opportunities that empower the youth to assume leadership positions, embrace innovation, and actively contribute to the development of their communities and nations.

According to her, the energy, creativity, and resilience of Africa’s youth remain indispensable assets in driving sustainable growth and transformation.

The North Dayi legislator further noted that Africa’s greatest strength lies in its youthful population. She called on governments, private sector actors, development organizations, and educational institutions to invest strategically in young people by providing quality education, skills training, mentorship, and access to resources that will enable them to thrive. Such investments, she said, are essential for unlocking the continent’s vast potential and ensuring long-term prosperity.

Hon. Tetteh’s participation in the summit reflects her continued commitment to youth development and inclusive governance. Her message resonated strongly with participants, reinforcing the importance of youth-centered policies and collaborative efforts in building a more inclusive, prosperous, and sustainable Africa.

As the continent continues its journey towards achieving the SDGs and Agenda 2063, empowering young people remains central to realizing the vision of a transformed and thriving Africa.
