Hon. Alexander Roosevelt Hottordze; the Member of Parliament for Central Tongu Constituency with the support of his District Chief Executive; Hon. Addison Dodzi Mornyuie have duly secured the Ghana Market Access and Connectivity (GMACP) initiative for the people of Central Tongu.
Following sustained lobbying and engagement by the MP, he has been granted the initiative which was captured under Cluster 2. This is to the benefit of the good people of Central Tongu as the initiative is to link rural road networks and connect farming communities.
The US$500 million World Bank/IDA-supported project will facilitate the rehabilitation of 1,050km of feeder roads across selected Regions including Volta of which Central Tongu happens to be one of the eleven(11) Districts to benefit in the Volta Region. The project is expected to improve all-season access to markets, enhance connectivity between farming communities and market centres, reduce post-harvest losses, and improve the movement of people and agricultural produce.
The inclusion of CENTRAL TONGU is therefore a significant step towards addressing our feeder road challenges and opening up more communities for economic activity and development.
