Three hundred students who sat for the 2026 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) in the Ketu South Municipality have been selected for an educational support package from Torgbui Tenuvi II (Mr. Akonta Felix Akakpo), the Youth and Development Chief of the Aflao Traditional Area.
To lessen the financial strain on families preparing for the Senior High School (SHS) transition, the initiative will supply beneficiaries from both public and private basic schools with essential items, including student mattresses, trunks, chop boxes, and other necessary school materials.
Torgbui Tenuvi II commended the nearly 5,000 BECE candidates across Ketu South for their hard work, giving special recognition to top performers. He highlighted that the 2026 scheme marks a major scaling-up from the 50 students assisted in 2025, reflecting his ongoing dedication to youth education in the area.
Working alongside the Ketu South Municipal Education Directorate, the chief and stakeholders will formally honor the 300 beneficiaries at an event scheduled for September 2026, ahead of their departure to SHS campuses.
Parents and guardians of the selected candidates are advised to refrain from buying the specified items, as the package is tailored to relieve those exact costs. Torgbui Tenuvi II assured families of his continued support through both material supplies and direct financial backing.
He emphasized that the project aims to complement the government’s Free SHS program, foster human capital, and ensure that bright students are not hindered by financial constraints.
Parents of the chosen students must submit their children's first-choice Senior High Schools to their respective basic school heads by Tuesday, August 26, 2026.
Torgbui Tenuvi II also committed to tracking the students' academic journeys and pledged continued support toward improving educational infrastructure within the Aflao Traditional Area to build a stronger community.
