The Ghana Education Service (GES) has told newly promoted teachers that they do not need to send in any letters or documents to get their new pay.
This message comes after some teachers complained that they were asked to submit their promotion letters and other papers before receiving their new salary rates.
In an official statement released on Saturday, August 22, 2026, the GES explained that salaries are changed automatically once a teacher gets a promotion.
"This existing practice has not changed," the GES said, telling all teachers to ignore any demands for documents regarding pay adjustments.
The Service asked teachers to stay calm while it speaks with the specific regional and district offices that were asking for these papers. The GES added that it will continue using the normal automatic process for all future promotion pay raises.
