Outrage has gripped residents of Adidome following an act of alleged sabotage that halted ongoing repairs on a critical, long-neglected access road. Operations came to a sudden standstill after an unidentified individual reportedly poured salt into the engines of a grader and auxiliary heavy machinery deployed to reshape the thoroughfare.
The affected equipment belongs to Dzisenu Raphael, a local National Democratic Congress (NDC) politician and former parliamentary aspirant, who funded the interim road rehabilitation to relieve the community's commuting plight.
For decades, the access route has remained in severe disrepair despite repeated promises from successive administrations. In recent months, the road’s near-unusable state had even encouraged illegal land encroachment along the corridor. Raphael’s intervention was aimed at restoring motorability while permanent solutions were sought.
News of the deliberate damage triggered widespread condemnation across Adidome. Given Raphael’s political standing and rumors of a potential bid in the upcoming primaries many community members suspect the sabotage stems from internal party rivalries or local political friction. Others contend it was a calculated attempt to stymie infrastructure progress in the area.
Local authorities have yet to issue an official statement on the matter, and the perpetrator remains unidentified as investigations continue.
