2 min read

Hon. James Gunu, the Volta Regional Minister, on Tuesday received a delegation of workers from Volta Star Textile Limited in Juapong, who paid a courtesy call to highlight pressing concerns about their welfare and the factory’s ongoing operational challenges. The meeting provided a platform for the employees to directly present their grievances to the regional leadership, underscoring the difficulties the historic textile firm has faced in recent times.

The workers appealed earnestly for government intervention to revive the factory and safeguard the numerous jobs it sustains in the region. They expressed worries over the prolonged downtime of the facility and its impact on livelihoods, urging swift action to restore operations and bring stability to the local economy that depends significantly on the textile industry.

In response, Hon. James Gunu assured the delegation of the government’s firm commitment to restoring the company to full operation. He disclosed that concrete efforts are already underway to attract credible investors who can inject the necessary capital and expertise to revitalise the factory and place it on a sustainable path.

The Minister encouraged the workers to remain hopeful, emphasising that their concerns remain a top priority. As steps are taken to address the situation, he called for patience and continued cooperation, signalling optimism that the revival process will yield positive outcomes for both the employees and the broader Volta Region.
