Forty-five members of the Republic of Sierra Leone Armed Forces (RSLAF) have officially completed an intensive seven-week train-the-trainer program at the Jungle Warfare School (JWS) in Akim-Achiase, located in Ghana’s Eastern Region.
The graduation ceremony, held on Friday, September 4, 2026, marked the end of a rigorous regimen focused on tactical fieldcraft, survival tactics, leadership, operational adaptability in tough terrains, and decentralized command protocols. The training aims to boost physical and mental fortitude while equipping participants to lead internal security and counterinsurgency missions in jungle environments.
During the closing ceremony, Brigadier General William Adarkwa Kwabiah, Director General of Training for the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF), praised the JWS instructors for their commitment to developing strong operational leaders. He noted that comprehensive training remains crucial as security challenges across the West African sub-region continue to evolve.
Expressing his appreciation to the GAF for hosting the exercise, Brigadier General Francis Kwame Kanu, RSLAF’s Assistant Chief of Defence Staff for Training, Doctrine, and Education, reaffirmed the strong bilateral ties between both nations. He highlighted that Sierra Leone considers Ghana a key strategic partner in maintaining regional peace and security.
