Police Officer Arrested and Interdicted over Death of 23-year-Old Ivan Baidoo

​The Ghana Police Service has formally interdicted General Corporal Robert Koranteng after preliminary investigations linked him to the tragic death of 23-year-old Ivan Baidoo. The disciplinary action stems from an incident that occurred on the Tema Motorway on August 27, 2026, which quickly gained public attention after footage of the event went viral across social media platforms.

​Following the widespread circulation of the video, law enforcement moved swiftly to identify the officer involved and initiate formal procedures. The Homicide Unit under the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) has taken charge of the case and is currently deepening its inquiry to reconstruct the exact sequence of events that led to the young man’s death.

​Simultaneously, the Police Professional Standards Bureau (PPSB) has launched an internal inquiry to examine General Corporal Koranteng’s conduct during the encounter and determine whether operational protocols or ethical standards were breached.

​In an official statement, the police administration reassured the public of its commitment to transparency and justice. The Service emphasized that a comprehensive investigation is underway and promised that strict, appropriate measures will be taken against anyone found culpable once all inquiries are concluded.
