The Ghana Police Service has provided an update on the alleged child stealing incident in Kpando. Divisional Police Commander ACP Raymond Kofi Erzuah confirmed that the suspect admitted to taking the child and revealed another attempted incident. He urged the public to remain vigilant while investigations continue.
The accused, Stella Amedorme, a 31-year-old mother of seven, was arrested following the incident on Thursday, 16 July, at around 3:30 p.m. at Kpando Market. Complainant Gloria Mansa reported her eight-month-old baby, Joel Dzidefo Acheampong, missing after briefly leaving him in the care of an unfamiliar woman while selling groundnuts.
Amedorme appeared before the Kpando Circuit Court presided over by Her Honour Dzifa Amefinu Dina. The case has been adjourned to Monday, 27 July, to allow police more time to complete their investigations.
