Police Arrest 49-Year-Old Trader in Ashaiman Over 37 Slabs of Suspected Indian Hemp

​The Tema Regional Police Command has taken into custody a 49-year-old trader, Issaka Mohammed, following the seizure of 37 slabs of compressed dried plant material suspected to be Indian hemp. The suspect was apprehended by officers from the Ashaiman District Police Command during an operation aimed at curbing illegal drug activities in the area.

​The arrest occurred on Saturday, September 12, 2026, at approximately 11:30 p.m. Motorbike patrol officers acting on actionable intelligence raided a known "ghetto" situated behind the New Tulaku Cow Market. Upon arrival, the officers identified and detained Mohammed, seizing the illegal contraband at the scene.

​The suspect remains in police custody as investigations continue. Police authorities have assured the public that the confiscated plant material will undergo laboratory analysis, after which Mohammed will be processed for court to face the full rigor of the law.
