The 1 Infantry Battalion (1BN) held an Induction and Thanksgiving Service for its new Commanding Officer, Lieutenant Colonel Enoch Rafik Wehkole Awudu, on Sunday, September 13, 2026, at the Pentecost International Worship Centre in Michel Camp.
The Director General of Religious Affairs, Apostle Brigadier General Benjamin Kumi-Woode (PhD), officially inducted Lt Col Awudu into office. Speaking on the theme "The Call to Command: Leadership Under Supreme Authority," Apostle Brig Gen Kumi-Woode encouraged the new Commanding Officer to guide the battalion with humility, courage, wisdom, and discipline.
Representing the General Officer Commanding Southern Command, Brigadier General Edward Awaribey, the Command Operations Officer, Colonel Lawrence Agbedoawu, urged the battalion’s officers and soldiers to support their new leader and uphold high operational readiness. Col Agbedoawu also acknowledged the continued partnership and presence of the Kaysens Group, emphasizing the importance of strong stakeholder support.
In his maiden address, Lt Col Awudu thanked the Military High Command for the trust reposed in him and commended his predecessors for establishing a solid foundation. He assured that his tenure would prioritize mission delivery, personnel welfare, and strict discipline, calling on the unit to remain united, professional, and true to their moniker as the "Ready and Willing" family.
