Akatsi South Municipal Assembly Distributes Income-Generating Items to Persons with Disabilities

2 min read

The Akatsi South Municipal Assembly, in collaboration with traditional leaders and some Assembly Members, has distributed vital income-generating items to selected Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) under the Disability Fund. The ceremony, which took place earlier today, aimed to empower beneficiaries with tools to establish or expand their businesses, fostering greater self-reliance and economic inclusion within the municipality.

Among the items presented were movable cassava mills with fuel, 360-litre deep freezers, double-door refrigerators and ice chests, industrial sewing and overlock machines, electrical appliances, liquid soap production materials, plastic chairs, tricycles, vegetable grinding machines, and various other essential equipment. These resources are designed to support diverse entrepreneurial ventures, enabling recipients to engage in productive activities such as food processing, tailoring, retail, and transportation services.

Presenting the items on behalf of the President of the Republic of Ghana and the Akatsi South Municipal Assembly, the Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Daniel Dagba, urged beneficiaries to utilise the support effectively. He emphasised that the gesture represents both an opportunity and a responsibility, encouraging them to improve their livelihoods, achieve financial independence, and build brighter futures for themselves and their families.

Hon. Dagba further reminded the recipients that successful communities thrive when individuals succeed together and extend support to others. He called on them to grow thriving businesses and, in turn, contribute to the development of their communities once they achieve stability.

The beneficiaries expressed overwhelming joy and gratitude to the Akatsi South Municipal Assembly and the President for the life-changing intervention. They pledged to make judicious use of the items to enhance their livelihoods and become more self-reliant, highlighting the timely support from the Ministry of Local Government, the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection, and the Volta Regional Coordinating Council.
