The Minister for Roads and Highways, Kwame Governs Agbodza, has assured the public that the ongoing rehabilitation works on the Accra-Tema Motorway remain on course, dismissing concerns about delays arising from financial obligations.

According to the Minister, the government has fulfilled all its financial commitments to the contractor handling the project, ensuring that work can proceed without interruptions.

Speaking on the status of the project, Mr. Agbodza stated that, “On record, the Motorway contract is ongoing, and as of this morning, we don’t owe the contractor any amount of money. All outstanding claims have been settled.” His remarks were aimed at providing clarity on the government’s role in facilitating the successful execution of the critical infrastructure project.

The Minister emphasized that the motorway remains a key national project due to its importance in easing transportation challenges, improving road safety, and supporting economic activities between Accra and Tema.

He noted that with all outstanding payments settled, the focus now shifts to ensuring that the contractor accelerates work to meet expected timelines and deliver the project to the satisfaction of road users.

Mr. Agbodza further assured commuters and residents that the Ministry will continue to engage and encourage the contractors to speed up construction activities.

He reiterated the government’s commitment to improving the country’s road network and expressed confidence that the completed motorway project will significantly enhance travel efficiency and contribute to national development.
