The Universal Childcare Foundation, led by Mrs. Emefa Quarshie Agbana, has donated sanitary pads to students in the Ketu North Municipality as part of activities to commemorate World Menstrual Hygiene Day. The gesture formed part of the foundation’s efforts to support adolescent girls and promote proper menstrual hygiene management among students in the area.
The initiative sought to raise awareness about menstrual health while ensuring that young girls have access to sanitary products to help them stay comfortable, confident, and focused on their education.
Beneficiary students expressed gratitude for the support, describing the donation as timely and helpful in addressing challenges many girls face during their menstrual periods.
Speaking during the donation exercise, Mrs. Agbana stressed the importance of breaking the stigma surrounding menstruation and creating a supportive environment for girls. According to her, menstruation is a natural biological process that should not prevent girls from attending school or participating fully in academic and social activities.
She further noted that many girls continue to miss classes due to lack of access to sanitary products and inadequate education on menstrual hygiene. Mrs. Agbana called on individuals, organizations, and stakeholders to contribute toward improving menstrual health education and making sanitary products more accessible to girls, especially in underserved communities.
World Menstrual Hygiene Day is observed globally to advocate for good menstrual health and hygiene while promoting awareness on the challenges girls and women face.
The Universal Childcare Foundation’s donation in Ketu North has been widely praised as a meaningful intervention that will help empower young girls and encourage them to pursue their education with dignity and confidence.
