To boost emergency medical services across Ghana, the Ministry of Health (MoH) and the National Ambulance Service (NAS) have transferred 30 ambulances to National Security for complete refurbishment.
The vehicles, previously kept at the Ghana Air Force Base in Burma Camp, Accra, will be repaired and added to the National Ambulance Service fleet to enhance prompt pre-hospital care nationwide.
The NAS confirmed that the legal groundwork for this move was established after the Office of the Attorney-General and Ministry of Justice granted permission to the Ministry of Health to reclaim and evaluate the vehicles for active duty.
During a brief ceremony, keys to all 30 ambulances were officially presented to a National Security representative, who will supervise the restoration process.
According to the Ministry, this project aligns with the government's dual focus on recovering abandoned state assets and building a more effective emergency response system.
