In a bid to boost vocational training and sustainable food production, AngloGold Ashanti Obuasi Mine, alongside the Ashanti Regional Fisheries Commission, has presented 1,500 catfish fingerlings and 10 bags of fish feed to the Obuasi Local Prison.
The presentation, which took place on August 14, 2026, aims to expand the facility’s aquaculture project. This initiative provides inmates with hands-on experience in fish farming, equipping them with practical skills to foster self-reliance and ease their reintegration into society upon release.
Receiving the items, the Officer-in-Charge, Assistant Director of Prisons (ADP) Francis D. K. Deku, commended both AngloGold Ashanti Obuasi Mine and the Fisheries Commission for their ongoing commitment to inmate welfare, skill acquisition, and rehabilitation.
