2 min read

Abla Dzifa Gomashie has emphasized the urgent need for more opportunities within Ghana’s creative industry, stating that although the country is blessed with immense talent, many creatives continue to struggle due to limited platforms and exposure. Speaking during a ceremony to officially name Wiyaala as Ghana’s Global Fugu Tourism Ambassador, Hon. Gomashie noted that her ongoing cultural and tourism tours are designed to unlock opportunities for artists, designers, performers, and other creative professionals across the country. According to her, Ghana possesses extraordinary creative potential that must be nurtured and projected onto the global stage through deliberate support systems and cultural promotion initiatives.

During her address, Hon. Gomashie highlighted the importance of investing in local talent and preserving Ghanaian cultural identity through arts, fashion, music, and tourism. She explained that the creative sector remains one of the country’s most powerful tools for youth empowerment and economic transformation, yet many talented individuals lack the visibility and infrastructure needed to thrive. She stressed that initiatives such as cultural tours and ambassadorial programs are intended to create sustainable opportunities that connect creatives to broader audiences, partnerships, and international recognition.

The event, which celebrated Wiyaala’s contributions to promoting Ghanaian culture globally, also served as a platform to showcase the growing influence of indigenous fashion and cultural storytelling. Wiyaala, known for proudly wearing the traditional fugu attire on international stages, was praised for consistently using her music and public image to promote Ghanaian heritage. Hon. Gomashie described her as a symbol of authenticity and cultural pride whose influence continues to inspire young creatives to embrace their identity and originality without compromise.

According to Hon. Gomashie, the government and cultural stakeholders must work collectively to build stronger creative ecosystems that support innovation, talent development, and tourism growth. She explained that Ghana’s cultural assets have the potential to attract global attention and investment if given the right platforms and exposure. She further noted that promoting local traditions, crafts, music, and fashion can significantly contribute to job creation and economic development while strengthening national identity.
