1 min read

The Armed Forces Music School (AFMS) has successfully completed its first-ever Band Young Officers’ Course 1/2026, which ran from July 13 to August 14, 2026.

Over the five-week intensive program, the course aimed to sharpen leadership abilities, deepen professional knowledge, and refine the musicianship of Band Officers drawn from the Ghana Armed Forces and allied security services.

A closing ceremony was held to celebrate the graduates, bringing together participants, instructors, and senior military personnel to honor the officers' dedication to their professional growth.

Serving as the Guest of Honor, Lieutenant Colonel Samuel Randolph Tawiah Commanding Officer of the Armed Forces Central Band and AFMS reminded the graduates of the importance of discipline, continuous learning, and professionalism in leading military bands. He noted that strong leadership combined with technical expertise is vital for upholding music standards, encouraging the officers to apply their new skills in their units and lead by example.

Earlier in the ceremony, Course Commander Lieutenant Commander Theophilus Stanley Brocke welcomed the attendees and urged the officers to leverage the insight gained throughout the training to help elevate the standards of military music.
