1 min read

The Minister for Defence, Hon. Kenneth Gilbert Adjei, recently hosted the German Ambassador to Ghana, H.E. Frederik Landshöft, along with the German Defence Attaché, Commander Holger Grossmann, at The Square. The visit served to congratulate the Minister on his appointment and discuss strategies for expanding bilateral cooperation in defence and security.

During the meeting, Hon. Adjei expressed appreciation for Germany’s long-standing support, highlighting key areas of collaboration such as training provided by the German Military Advisory Group, officer exchange programmes, logistical assistance, naval training, surveillance, and intelligence sharing. He noted that these initiatives have played a vital role in enhancing the operational readiness and capabilities of the Ghana Armed Forces.

The Minister further emphasized Ghana's determination to strengthen this partnership to counter security concerns in the Sahel and broader West African sub-region, particularly the threat of violent extremism.

Ambassador Landshöft commended President John Dramani Mahama for his strategic leadership in promoting regional peace. He underscored several significant joint initiatives, including the Signal School at Burma Camp, the satellite station in Bolgatanga, the Dog Academy, support for airfield operations, and the upcoming Tamale Maintenance Hub scheduled for commissioning in October 2026.
