Tragic Collision on Accra-Aflao Highway Leaves 13 Dead-5 Critically Injured

​A devastating road accident on the Accra-Aflao Highway has claimed 13 lives and left five others fighting for survival following a head-on collision between Sege and Dawa.

​The crash, which occurred early Wednesday morning on September 2, 2026, involved a Ford Transit minibus and a Toyota Hiace passenger bus.

​According to eyewitnesses, the accident happened when the driver of the Ford Transit attempted to overtake another vehicle. During the maneuver, the driver veered into the oncoming lane and directly into the path of a speeding Toyota Hiace, resulting in a high-impact crash.

​Thirteen passengers died at the scene, while five survivors sustained severe injuries. Emergency responders promptly transported the critically injured to a nearby medical facility for urgent treatment.

​Police officers responded swiftly to the scene to manage traffic, clear the wreckage, and initiate a full investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash.

​Authorities are strongly urging all motorists to exercise maximum caution, adhere to speed limits, and avoid risky overtaking maneuvers to prevent similar tragedies on the nation's highways.
