Minister for Roads and Highways Hon. Agbodza issues a two-month ultimatum to Maripoma Enterprise Limited

2 min read

The Minister for Roads and Highways, Kwame Governs Agbodza, has issued a stern two-month ultimatum to contractors working on the Wenchi–Sawla Lot 7 road project, demanding significant progress or face termination of the contract.

The directive, specifically targeted at Maripoma Enterprise Limited, underscores government’s growing concern over delays affecting critical infrastructure projects across the country.

According to the Minister, the contractor is expected to complete at least 20 percent of the outstanding work within the given timeframe.

Failure to meet this benchmark, he warned, would compel the government to take decisive action, including the possible abrogation of the contract. The move forms part of broader efforts by the Roads and Highways Ministry to ensure value for money and timely delivery of road projects.

The Wenchi–Sawla road, a key transport corridor linking parts of the Bono and Savannah regions, plays a vital role in facilitating trade, agriculture, and regional connectivity.

Persistent delays have, however, raised concerns among residents and road users who rely heavily on the stretch for economic activities. The ultimatum is therefore seen as a necessary step to fast-track progress and restore confidence in the project.

Officials from the Ministry have reiterated their commitment to strict monitoring and supervision to ensure compliance with the directive.

They emphasized that contractors who fail to meet agreed timelines will not be tolerated, as government seeks to improve road infrastructure nationwide. The ultimatum to Maripoma Enterprise Limited sends a clear signal that underperformance will attract swift consequences under the current administration.
