Award-winning Ghanaian rapper Edem, has asserted his pioneering role in taking the Ewe language beyond Ghana’s borders through music.

Speaking during an interview on Freedom FM as part of his media tour, the artiste stated that he is the first Voltarian musician to successfully cross international boundaries while consistently performing in Ewe, a claim that underscores his long-standing influence in promoting the Volta identity.

The interview formed part of Edem’s promotional activities for his latest single, Volta Vi, which features talented vocalist Enam. According to him, the song is more than just a musical release; it is a cultural statement aimed at celebrating the heritage, language, and pride of the Volta Region.

He noted that his journey over the years has been driven by a desire to project Ewe music onto global platforms, despite challenges often faced by artistes who choose to perform in local dialects.

Edem further encouraged upcoming musicians from the region to embrace their identity and remain authentic in their craft, stressing that language should not be a barrier to success.

He highlighted how consistency, innovation, and belief in one’s roots can open international doors. His remarks have since sparked conversations among fans and industry watchers, with many acknowledging his contribution to elevating Ewe music on the global stage.
