Hohoe Schools Receive Major Furniture Boost as Assembly Hands Over 1600 Desks

2 min read

The Hohoe Municipal Assembly has delivered a significant boost to education in the municipality with the distribution of 1,600 mono desks to 40 basic schools. The handover ceremony, held on July 13, 2026, marks one of the most substantial investments in school infrastructure in recent years. The initiative aims to address furniture shortages and create a more conducive learning environment for students across the area.

Municipal Chief Executive Prosper Kumi, who presided over the presentation, highlighted that the desks were funded through the District Assemblies Common Fund. He described the distribution as the largest single furniture supply ever provided to schools in the Hohoe Municipality. Kumi also assured stakeholders that additional furniture, including teachers’ tables and chairs, along with specialized sets for 12 selected kindergarten schools, would be supplied in the coming weeks.

Hohoe Member of Parliament Thomas Worlanyo Tsekpo reinforced the commitment to educational development, pledging sustained investment in the sector. He revealed that a new school is currently under construction, with plans for additional school blocks and extensive renovations to existing facilities already in the pipeline. These efforts, according to the MP, demonstrate a holistic approach to improving teaching and learning conditions in the constituency.

NDC Constituency Chairman Newton Darkey urged school authorities and students to take proper care of the new desks to maximize their lifespan and benefit future generations. He emphasized the importance of maintenance and responsible use of public assets provided for educational advancement.

This major furniture distribution forms part of broader initiatives by the Hohoe Municipal Assembly to strengthen educational infrastructure and enhance learning outcomes. By tackling basic needs such as adequate seating, authorities hope to create better conditions for both students and teachers, ultimately contributing to improved academic performance across the municipality.
