Ho Teaching Hospital Delights Clients and Staff with Innovative "Local Bar" Experience

​Ho Teaching Hospital (HTH) transformed the typical clinical environment into a vibrant space of hospitality and human connection during Customer Appreciation Week with an innovative “Local Bar” experience. Designed to foster informal interaction beyond conventional medical consultations, the event brought together healthcare workers, patients, and visitors in a lively, welcoming atmosphere. Participants were treated to complimentary refreshments and small chops, creating a unique backdrop that celebrated the vital role of empathy and community in healthcare delivery.

​The creative gesture drew an overwhelmingly enthusiastic response from clients, many of whom expressed delight at the unusual warmth and openness displayed by the hospital. The opportunity to relax and enjoy free refreshments resonated deeply with patients and their families, with some requesting extra treats and others taking packs of small chops home. For many visitors, the experience redefined their perception of hospital visits, highlighting how small acts of kindness can lighten the emotional weight of seeking medical care.

​The success of the event was driven by strong internal solidarity and generous contributions from local partners. Staff members rallied behind the cause, with Ms. Patience Logo of the Finance Directorate donating bottles of wine and the Director of Pharmacy, Pharm. Wisdom Adzaku, contributing a gallon of "Yellow Sisi" a special alcoholic beverage produced in-house by the HTH Pharmacy. External partners, including the award-winning Agbenorxevi Chop Bar, B-Hawk Ltd, and the Volta Regional Football Association, also provided vital support, demonstrating the strength of community collaboration.

​Highlighting the spirit of the occasion, the Acting Head of Public Relations at HTH emphasized that every encounter within the hospital provides a chance to extend genuine appreciation and care. Emphasizing that everyone from security personnel and records officers to nurses, doctors, and clients forms an integral part of the hospital's story, the Public Relations team paused to express a heartfelt “Akpe” (thank you) to all. The event served as a powerful reminder that holistic healthcare relies on respect, effective communication, and a shared sense of humanity.
