Minister for Roads and Highways, Hon. Kwame Governs Agbodza, conducted an unannounced site visit this morning to evaluate the ongoing construction of the Sunyani Outer Ring Road project. The surprise inspection was aimed at assessing work quality, evaluating contractor readiness, and verifying that the project adheres strictly to stipulated timelines and safety standards.
Upon arrival, the Minister met contractor Kofi Job actively managing operations on-site. Work across the corridor was moving at an impressive pace, with heavy machinery deployed and construction crews carrying out earthworks, drainage installations, and sub-base preparation to ensure a durable foundation for the strategic road link.
Project supervisors confirmed that operations remain fully on schedule, setting a firm target to lay 19 kilometers of binder course the crucial first layer of asphalt out of the total 34-kilometer stretch by the end of the year. Once completed, the binder layer will immediately stabilize the road surface and significantly ease transit across key industrial and agricultural routes in the Sunyani metropolis.
Hon. Agbodza commended the contractor's dedication and high standard of workmanship, highlighting that the rapid progress reflects the government's unwavering commitment to delivering robust infrastructure nationwide. The completion of the Sunyani Outer Ring Road will divert heavy transit traffic away from the central business district, reduce commuter travel times, and unlock vital economic potential across the region.
