Nestlé Ghana Expands Tema Operations with New Evaporated Milk Production Line

2 min read

Nestlé Ghana has officially inaugurated an expanded evaporated milk production line at its factory in Tema, following a ceremony attended by President John Dramani Mahama on Thursday. Representing an investment of GHS 59 million, the modernization initiative aims to boost total output, enhance factory efficiency, and serve consumers across both local and West African markets.

Speaking at the event, President Mahama emphasized that sustainable corporate investment relies on a steady macroeconomic environment. He pointed out that steady inflation, transparent fiscal measures, reliable exchange rates, and a dependable power supply remain critical to giving businesses the assurance needed to invest heavily. He reassured industry leaders that the government remains committed to strengthening economic management and upgrading national infrastructure.

"Capital goes where it is safe, but it stays and expands where there is stability and supporting infrastructure," President Mahama stated, underscoring ongoing state efforts to safeguard reliable energy and foster industrial development.

Salome Azevedo, Managing Director of Nestlé Ghana, highlighted the broader meaning of the expansion for the company's regional goals. "This milestone is more than the completion of a major investment; it is a strong expression of Nestlé’s confidence in Ghana, our enduring commitment to local manufacturing, and our conviction that Ghana will continue to play a leading role in the future of Central and West Africa," she noted.

This latest project follows an earlier GHS 175.4 million investment dedicated to Nestlé's cereal manufacturing operations. Looking ahead, the company has pledged an additional GHS 138 million to set up a second evaporated milk processing unit and double its local Milo production capacity, reinforcing Ghana’s role as a major industrial hub in the region.
