Hon. Kobena Mensah Woyome Commends Ghana Tourism Authority for Strategic Alignment with GOC

​Former MP for South Tongu Constituency and Parliament's Select Committee on Youth, Sports, and Culture, Hon. Kobena Mensah Woyome, has lauded the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA) for its instrumental efforts in leveraging sport as a catalyst for national development. Speaking on the evolving landscape of sports governance in Ghana, Hon. Woyome highlighted the Authority’s proactive approach in aligning its mandate with major athletic frameworks, particularly through its close, collaborative relationship with the Ghana Olympic Committee (GOC).

​Hon. Woyome emphasized that the synergy between the Ghana Tourism Authority and the Ghana Olympic Committee represents a vital model for cross-sectoral partnership. By integrating sports initiatives into national destination-marketing strategies, the GTA has successfully helped position local sporting competitions as major draws for international visitors, regional trade, and cultural exchange. He noted that such strategic cooperation directly strengthens the ecosystem surrounding young Ghanaian athletes, coaches, and technical officials. 

​The praise comes as stakeholders increasingly recognize sports tourism as an untapped economic driver for the nation. Hon. Woyome pointed out that effective collaboration between tourism authorities and sports governing bodies creates sustainable avenues for infrastructure growth, community engagement, and youth development across all regions of the country. He praised the leadership of both organizations for recognizing their shared objectives and breaking down institutional silos to achieve meaningful outcomes.

​Reaffirming his commitment to sports growth and policy advancement, Hon.
