Speaking at the “Arise and Fly” townhall meeting held at the University of Ghana, aviation expert Capt. Asiwome Dzakuma revealed plans to establish aviation clubs across Senior High School campuses in Ghana to deepen grassroots participation in the aviation industry.

According to him, the initiative is aimed at introducing young students to career opportunities in aviation at an early stage while nurturing a new generation of industry professionals.

Capt. Dzakuma explained that many young people, especially those outside major cities, have limited exposure to aviation and often perceive the sector as inaccessible. He noted that the proposed clubs would serve as platforms for mentorship, aviation education, career guidance, and interactive activities that would inspire students to explore opportunities within the field. He added that the clubs would also help students understand the importance of discipline, innovation, and science in aviation development.

The townhall meeting, themed “Arise and Fly,” brought together aviation stakeholders, students, innovators, and industry enthusiasts to discuss the future of general aviation in Ghana. During the discussion, Capt. Dzakuma emphasized the need for intentional investment in human capital development, stressing that Ghana cannot build a strong aviation industry without creating pathways for young people to participate from the grassroots level.

He further disclosed that collaborations with schools, aviation institutions, and private sector partners are already being explored to ensure the successful rollout of the initiative. Participants at the event welcomed the proposal and described it as a timely intervention that could ignite interest in aviation among students nationwide. The meeting formed part of broader conversations on expanding opportunities within Ghana’s aviation space and empowering the next generation to dream beyond conventional career paths.
