The Member of Parliament for Ketu North, Hon. Edem Agbana, has announced the commencement of a Rural Telephonic Project aimed at improving communication infrastructure across underserved communities in the constituency.
According to the MP, the initiative forms part of a broader commitment to bridge the digital divide and enhance connectivity in rural areas. The project is expected to significantly boost socio-economic activities by making communication more accessible and reliable for residents.
Hon. Agbana revealed that ten communities have been selected to benefit from the first phase of the project. These towns, which have long struggled with poor or non-existent network coverage, will now experience improved access to telecommunication services.
The intervention is anticipated to positively impact education, healthcare delivery, local businesses, and emergency response systems, all of which rely heavily on effective communication networks.
He emphasized that the Rural Telephonic Project is not just about providing network access but also about empowering people.
By connecting these communities, residents will be better positioned to access digital services, engage in mobile commerce, and stay informed on national and global developments. The MP further noted that the project aligns with national efforts to promote digital inclusion and rural development.
Hon. Agbana assured constituents that this is only the beginning, with plans already underway to extend the project to more communities in subsequent phases.
He called for community support and cooperation to ensure the successful implementation and sustainability of the initiative. The Rural Telephonic Project marks a significant step toward transforming Ketu North into a more connected and digitally inclusive constituency.
