Road Minister urges youth to keep track of road construction in their localities

2 min read

Kwame Governs Agbodza, the Minister for Roads and Highways, has called on Ghanaians, especially the youth, to actively participate in monitoring road projects being undertaken across the country.

According to the Minister, citizens have a critical role to play in ensuring accountability and quality delivery of infrastructure projects by contractors. He encouraged residents to record and share videos of ongoing road works in their communities to help authorities assess the progress and performance of contractors.

Speaking on the importance of public involvement in infrastructure development, Hon. Agbodza stressed that road construction is a national investment that requires collective responsibility. He noted that community members are often the first to observe delays, poor workmanship, or abandoned projects, making their feedback essential to government supervision efforts. The Minister’s remarks form part of broader efforts by the Ministry of Roads and Highways to strengthen monitoring and ensure value for money in the execution of road contracts across Ghana.

Hon. Agbodza further explained that the government is determined to intensify road construction activities nationwide as part of efforts to improve transportation networks and support economic growth. He emphasized that many road projects have already been awarded, and attention is now shifting towards strict supervision and quality assurance to guarantee that contractors deliver work according to specification and within agreed timelines.

The Roads and Highways Minister also highlighted the importance of transparency and accountability in the sector, assuring Ghanaians that the government remains committed to ensuring that public funds invested into infrastructure projects are properly utilized. His call for citizens to monitor projects aligns with ongoing government initiatives aimed at improving oversight and increasing public participation in national development projects.
