Retired Regimental Sergeant Majors Pay Courtesy Call on Forces Sergeant Major

A six-member delegation from the Retired Regimental Sergeant Majors Association paid a courtesy call on the Forces Sergeant Major (FSM), Chief Warrant Officer (CWO) Zakaria Alhassan, at General Headquarters, Burma Camp, on Tuesday, 22 September 2026. Led by the President of the association and former Sergeant Major of the Army, Ex Master Warrant Officer (Ex MWO) Frempah Moses, the visit aimed to strengthen ties between serving and retired Senior Non-Commissioned Officers while reviewing ongoing efforts to enhance troop welfare and administrative efficiency across the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF).

​During the meeting, Ex MWO Frempah congratulated CWO Zakaria on his appointment and commended his dedication to maintaining high standards of military discipline and tackling veteran welfare challenges. In response, CWO Zakaria expressed deep appreciation for the delegation's visit, acknowledging the legacy of successive Sergeant Majors in shaping the institution. He urged the veteran leaders to remain active custodians of military heritage by passing down time-honored traditions, professional values, and institutional knowledge to younger generations of soldiers.

​Highlighting key achievements since assuming office, CWO Zakaria outlined his recent familiarisation tours across various units, formations, and Regimental Aid Posts to directly assess and address service conditions. He reassured the delegation that the Military High Command is making steady progress on concerns previously raised by retirees. Furthermore, CWO Zakaria highlighted significant enhancements to the GAF Benevolent Fund, expressing gratitude to the Chief of the Defence Staff, Lieutenant General William Agyapong, and the Military High Command for prioritizing the continuous well-being of both serving personnel and veterans.
