Eastern Region Fire Command Steps Up Campaign Across Seven Stations to Curb Outbreaks

​The Eastern Regional Command of the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) has intensified its public education campaign across seven stations to raise awareness, reduce outbreaks, and protect lives and property. Running from September 11 to 16, the week-long initiative targeted high-risk public spaces and residential areas in Asamankese, Larteh, Anyinam, Aduamoa, Somanya, Kibi, and Nkawkaw. Fire officers engaged directly with Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) staff, local churches, market traders, lorry park operators, shop owners, street vendors, and households to foster a culture of proactive fire prevention.

​During the interactive sessions, community members received practical guidance on Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) and electrical safety, common causes of domestic fires, bushfire prevention strategies, and the correct handling of fire extinguishers. Officers emphasized early detection and the critical importance of reporting fire outbreaks promptly to minimize structural damage and save lives. To reinforce the message on the ground, Anyinam Station extended its outreach by pasting 200 fire safety stickers bearing emergency contact numbers across prominent locations in Anyinam and Moseaso.

​This heightened awareness drive aligns with the broader institutional goal of the GNFS to drastically reduce fire hazards throughout the region. By equipping local residents, workers, and traders with actionable safety skills and accessible emergency contacts, the Eastern Regional Command aims to build resilient communities capable of preventing fires before they start and responding effectively when emergencies arise.
