The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has commenced the distribution of new chip-embedded passports to affected Ghanaians who lost or had their travel documents damaged.
The initiative, which forms part of the Ministry’s support for national recovery efforts, is being offered completely free of charge. According to the Ministry, approximately 500 Ghanaians have already reached out to benefit from this humanitarian exercise.
Rigorous Verification Ensures Integrity
All beneficiaries have successfully undergone comprehensive security, nationality, biometric, and verification protocols before receiving their new passports. This thorough process underscores the Ministry’s commitment to maintaining the highest standards of document integrity while providing timely relief to citizens in need.
The Acting Director of Passports and the dedicated team at the Ministry have worked efficiently to execute this special intervention. Special appreciation was extended to Chief Director Ambassador Khadijah Iddrisu and all colleagues whose efforts have made the smooth rollout possible.
A Modest Contribution to National Recovery
Describing the exercise as the Ministry’s modest contribution to the broader national recovery drive, officials emphasized solidarity with flood victims. “Our prayers, thoughts, and actions are with all victims,” the statement noted.
This timely support not only helps restore essential travel documentation for affected individuals but also demonstrates the government’s proactive stance in addressing the immediate needs of citizens impacted by the natural disaster.
The Ministry continues to encourage eligible Ghanaians affected by the floods to reach out and take advantage of this free replacement program.
