Ministry of Foreign Affairs Announces Expedited Passport Replacement for Flood Victims

Responding to the devastating floods that have affected many parts of Ghana this week, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has launched a special initiative to fast-track the replacement of lost and damaged Ghanaian passports.

In a press release issued today, the Ministry expressed its deepest sympathies to all individuals and families impacted by the floods, which have resulted in loss of lives, destruction of properties, and widespread hardship.

“The Ministry is aware of the catastrophic consequences including loss of lives and destruction of properties,” the statement read. “We extend our sincerest and deepest condolences to the families and loved ones of the deceased.”

The Ministry also expressed strong solidarity with affected Ghanaians and acknowledged that many citizens may have lost their passports or had them severely damaged by the flooding.

To ease the burden on victims, the Ministry has decided to implement an expedited replacement process for lost and damaged passports. Affected individuals are urged to contact the dedicated helpline from Friday, 3rd July to Friday, 17th July 2026.

Date of Birth

Gender

Callers are also advised to include their current phone numbers for easy follow-up.

The Ministry has assured the public that it intends to complete the replacement of all reported lost and damaged passports within one week.

“We intend to replace all lost and damaged passports within a week,” the statement emphasised. “The Ministry of Foreign Affairs stands in solidarity with all affected persons during this difficult period and remains committed to playing its role in supporting government’s recovery efforts.”

This timely intervention is expected to help many Ghanaians who rely on valid passports for travel, work, or official purposes regain their documents quickly amid the ongoing recovery from the floods.
