Hon. Abla Dzifa Gomashie, Member of Parliament for Ketu South, has reached out to constituents reeling from recent flooding, assuring them that relief efforts are actively underway. In a heartfelt message, the MP urged residents to remain calm and place their safety first as authorities mobilize to address the disaster caused by heavy rains. She acknowledged the widespread destruction captured in numerous pictures and videos sent to her office, which she promptly forwarded to the Municipal Chief Executive and the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) Coordinator to strengthen ongoing response operations.
The MP emphasized that help is indeed on the way, with relevant authorities working tirelessly to alleviate the hardship faced by affected communities. She highlighted the recurring environmental challenges that have tested the area over the years, including devastating tidal waves, flooding linked to Volta River Authority (VRA) spillage, excess water in the Keta Basin, and the latest round of intense rainfall. Despite these persistent difficulties, Hon. Gomashie praised the people of Ketu South for their remarkable resilience, courage, and determination in the face of adversity.
While currently away on official national duty representing Ghana, the MP reassured residents that she would personally visit the impacted communities upon her return. She intends to assess the situation firsthand and stand in solidarity with them throughout the recovery process. Her message underscores a deep commitment to the welfare of her constituents during this trying period.
Hon. Gomashie also appealed to residents to exercise caution as rains continue across many parts of Ghana and beyond. She encouraged them to check on family members, neighbours, and friends, fostering a community spirit of care and vigilance amid the ongoing weather challenges.
The MP concluded her message with the reassuring words, “Sogbolisa nè kpor mia dzi nam,” reaffirming her unwavering solidarity and dedication to the people of Ketu South as they navigate the aftermath of the floods.
