HTU SRC reportedly seizes WatsUp TV vehicles over Medikal’s failure to grace SRC week’s Artist Night

A dispute has emerged between the Students’ Representative Council (SRC) of Ho Technical University (HTU) and WatsUp TV following the alleged failure of the media brand to deliver an event as agreed by bringing Ghanaian rapper Medikal to their artiste night.

The concerns, which have been widely shared on social media, accuse WatsUp TV of not fulfilling its contractual obligations despite reportedly receiving the agreed financial payments from the HTU SRC. As of the time the allegations were made, critics claimed the company had not issued an official statement explaining the situation.

According to reports, WatsUp TV’s silence has damaged its reputation and raised questions about its credibility. Fans argued that as an established brand, the company owed students and stakeholders a prompt explanation regarding the circumstances that led to the event not taking place as planned and Medikal not showing up. They further insisted that the matter should be resolved professionally by refunding the money if the agreed services were not delivered.

The claims also referenced previous disputes involving other tertiary institutions, including Koforidua Technical University, Sunyani Technical University, Cape Coast Technical University, and others. The students making the allegations asserted that similar incidents had occurred in the past, with one reportedly resulting in a refund after police intervention, while they claimed other institutions were still awaiting refunds. These allegations have not been independently verified, and WatsUp TV had not publicly responded to them at the time of the claims.

Meanwhile, the students have revealed that three vehicles belonging to WatsUp TV were being held at the Volta Regional Police Headquarters pending the resolution of the dispute and the alleged refund of the funds. They maintained that the issue involves an institution rather than an individual and called on the company to “do the right thing” by addressing the concerns transparently. As the matter continues to attract public attention, many stakeholders are awaiting an official response from WatsUp TV to clarify the situation and outline the way forward.
