AMA Mandates Reflectors and Highway Restrictions for Aboboyaa and Operators in Accra

1 min read

By the end of August, all aboboyaa and tricycle operators functioning within the Accra metropolis must equip their vehicles with safety reflectors or face enforcement action, according to Accra Mayor Michael Kpakpo Allotey.

The new policy, introduced by the Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA), aims to reduce traffic accidents by increasing the visibility of tricycles especially during night driving and low-visibility weather conditions.

Speaking to journalists on August 19, Mayor Allotey emphasized that compliance is non-negotiable for all operators, regardless of whether they transport goods or offer passenger services.

Mayor Allotey stressed that the Assembly will strictly enforce these rules starting at the end of August. He urged all aboboyaa and tricycle drivers to prioritize road safety, exercise extra caution, and cooperate fully with city authorities to safeguard all road users across Accra.
