The Yamfo Anglican Senior High School and Yamfo Technical Institute in the Ahafo Region recently played host to the 2026 National Cadet Leadership Training Camp, which took place from September 5th to 11th. Centered on the theme “Truth and Honesty,” the week-long camp successfully brought together roughly 500 student cadets and youth leaders hailing from all 16 regions of Ghana. The initiative aimed to go beyond basic physical drill, actively instilling core values of discipline, patriotism, and a deep respect for institutional facilities among the next generation of Ghanaian leaders.
To ensure a comprehensive and impactful experience, the training program drew massive backing from various state security services and public organizations. The National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) provided critical logistical support, supplying sleeping tents and major food rations. Meanwhile, resource persons from the Ghana Army, Ghana Navy, Ghana Police Service, Ghana Immigration Service, and Ghana National Fire Service delivered specialized training modules to sharpen the participants' practical skills and tactical awareness.
A major highlight of this year’s program was a two-day intensive workshop on September 6th and 7th, facilitated by DCOP David Senanu Eklu (Rtd.), Executive Director of the MISORNU Safety Centre. The sessions focused on Conflict Prevention, Emotional Intelligence, Leadership, and Security Awareness. Cadets were equipped with actionable frameworks to identify early warning signs of conflict, manage their emotions effectively, resolve disputes peacefully, and make sound decisions when communicating with authorities.
Demonstrating a strong commitment to community development, participating institutions also gave back to the host facilities. Notably, the Customs Division of the Ghana Revenue Authority supplemented their educational lectures with a direct donation toward the Cadet Legacy Project, which funded the renovation of Yamfo's school cook house. Through a balanced blend of practical safety education, emotional skill-building, and community service, the 2026 Yamfo Camp proved to be a transformative landmark in molding resilient, service-driven youth for the nation.
