Namibia High Commissioner to Ghana Praises Ho Teaching Hospital's Breakthrough Wellness Tourism Project

2 min read

Her Excellency Mrs. Ndiyakupi Nghipunya, the Namibian High Commissioner to Ghana, has lauded the Ho Teaching Hospital (HTH) for its groundbreaking efforts in blending conventional medical care with wellness, healing, and medical tourism.

During her official visit to the facility, High Commissioner Nghipunya explored the grounds including the Music Therapy Studio and the Meditation Garden and sampled several of the center’s holistic programs. She voiced strong appreciation for HTH’s vision of combining patient care with mental relaxation and overall well-being.

Impressed by the unique healing environment HTH has created, Mrs. Nghipunya noted that Namibia is eager to learn from this model and partner with the hospital to expand wellness tourism initiatives in both nations. She indicated that her office would take active steps to foster deeper cooperation with the institution.

Welcoming the diplomat, HTH Chief Executive Officer Dr. Hintermann K.K. Mbroh emphasized that the facility is actively moving past the traditional hospital framework. By integrating elite clinical care with hospitality and holistic recovery, HTH aims to draw health-conscious visitors and medical tourists from across Ghana and the broader region.

Dr. Mbroh highlighted that joining forces with Namibia opens doors for technical exchange, cross-border health partnerships, staff development, and joint ventures in wellness tourism.

Adding a local perspective, Hon. Jerry Yao Ameko, District Chief Executive for Adaklu, celebrated the facility’s presence in the district, declaring that "Adaklu sees health as gold" and highlighting the socio-economic benefits such innovative infrastructure brings to the area.

Meanwhile, Dr. Richard Atuwo, Chairman of HTH’s Medical Tourism Committee, reasserted the hospital's readiness to formalize partnerships with diplomatic missions. Medical Tourism Coordinator Mr. Anthony Bells Kafui Kanyi added that HTH is strategically designed to lead West Africa’s medical and wellness tourism sector catering to families, corporate groups, international travelers, and health conscious individuals alike.

The High Commissioner’s visit forms part of a growing trend of international interest in HTH. High Commissioners from Togo, Nigeria, and Niger toured the facility last year, alongside a continuing stream of diplomatic and corporate leaders visiting this year.
