2 min read

The Volta Regional Co-ordinating Council (VRCC) and the Office of the Volta Regional Minister have announced a significant event aimed at strengthening the conversation around affordable healthcare access. This upcoming media and stakeholder engagement will specifically focus on the Ghana Medical Trust Fund, popularly known as the "Mahama Cares" initiative. This fund represents a critical part of the regional effort to address healthcare needs and funding challenges across the Volta Region.

The event, which is scheduled to take place on Monday, October 12th, 2026, at 8:00 AM, will be broadcast live to a wide audience. The venue is the studios of Global FM (105.1 MHz). By utilising this widespread radio platform, the organisers aim to ensure that a large number of citizens and key stakeholders can be part of the discussion, offering transparency and a deeper understanding of how the Medical Trust Fund will operate and benefit the populace.

This important dialogue will be headlined by two key figures directly involved in the initiative. Listeners can expect to hear from Hon. James Gunu, the Volta Regional Minister, who will provide the governmental perspective and regional commitment. He will be joined by Obuobia Darko-Opoku, the Administrator of the GMTF, who will offer operational insights. This event is being powered by the VRCC Public Relations Unit, highlighting the commitment to clear, public communication regarding health policy in the Volta Region.
