The Electricity Company of Ghana Limited (ECG) has issued an official notice informing residents and business owners of a scheduled power outage set for Monday, October 12, 2026. The temporary power interruption will begin at 9:00 AM and is expected to last until 4:00 PM. According to the power distribution company, the seven-hour shutdown is necessary to enable technical teams to execute vital system maintenance aimed at boosting network reliability and delivering better service quality across the corridor.
A wide array of residential, commercial, and institutional hubs across the Volta and Greater Accra regions will be impacted during the maintenance exercise. Key areas scheduled for the outage include Sogakope, Dabala, Adidome, Akatsi, Abor, Ada, Fievie, Mepe Dagorme, Anloga, and parts of Keta. Additional affected localities consist of Yorkutikpo, Ohawu, Tsavana, Adutor, Torve, Tordzinu, Atiavi, Dzrakate, Tadzewu, Kpenu, Savietula, Agorta, Woe, and the Naval Training Command at Nutekpor.
Critical infrastructure and major commercial establishments situated within the coverage zone will also experience the disruption. Notable installations on the maintenance list include the Ghana Water Company Limited (GWCL) pumping station, the West Africa Football Academy (WAFA), Hotel Cisneros, and Comboni. Operators of these facilities and local businesses are encouraged to implement alternative energy measures to minimize operational downtime throughout the day.
Extending its sincere apologies for the inconvenience caused, ECG has advised all affected customers to take proactive safety steps before the exercise begins. Residents are urged to unplug delicate electronic appliances and equipment prior to the 9:00 AM kickoff to protect them against potential voltage surges when electricity supply is fully restored at 4:00 PM.
