The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) has escalated its public fire safety outreach across several towns in the Eastern Region, targeting residential areas and educational institutions in Aburi, Amanfrom, Kwahu Tafo Kristo Anti No. 2, and Effiduase Technical Institute.
In preparation for the upcoming Odwira Festival, officers from the Aburi Fire Station carried out door-to-door awareness campaigns. Simultaneously, field units from Nkawkaw, Aduamoa, and New Juaben North interacted with local residents, market traders, street vendors, and students. The sessions covered essential safety topics, including electrical hazards, safe handling of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG), proper cooking habits, common fire risks, and the correct operation of firefighting tools.
Additionally, the public received guidance on emergency response protocols, rapid evacuation methods, responsible waste management, and the importance of immediately contacting emergency services via 112 or 192. These activities align with the GNFS's broader mission to enhance safety awareness, minimize fire incidents, and build safer environments across homes and schools.
