3 min read

Mr Gabby Hottorwodze, the Member of Parliament for Central Tongu Constituency and Mr Addison Mornyuie, the District Chief Executive for Central Tongu District, on Tuesday, May 12, 2026, embarked on an inspection tour of several ongoing development projects within the district as part of efforts to monitor progress and ensure the timely completion of critical infrastructure initiatives.

The inspection exercise covered a number of health and educational projects across communities including Mafi-Dekpoe, Mafi-Aflavenu, Mafi-Tsetsekpo, and Asiekpe.

During the tour, Mr Hottorwodze, the MP and Mr Mornyuie, the DCE, visited the ongoing Community-based Health Planning and Services (CHPS) compound project at Mafi-Dekpoe to assess the quality of work and ascertain the level of progress made so far. The project is expected to improve access to primary healthcare delivery for residents within the community and surrounding areas when completed.

The delegation also inspected the construction of the Mafi-Aflavenu CHPS compound together with a nurses’ quarters project. The facility is aimed at strengthening healthcare services in the area while also providing accommodation for health personnel to improve efficiency and accessibility of medical care, particularly during emergencies.

Speaking during the inspection, the leaders reaffirmed their commitment to improving healthcare infrastructure within the district, emphasizing that access to quality healthcare remains a key priority of the assembly and the government.

The tour further took the MP and DCE to Mafi-Tsetsekpo, where they inspected ongoing construction works at the Mafi-Tsetsekpo D/A Junior High School. According to officials, the project was initially started through community efforts to address overcrowding and create a conducive learning environment for students. However, the District Assembly later intervened to support and complete the project to ensure its timely delivery.

The MP commended members of the community for taking the initiative to begin the educational project and assured them of continued support to improve educational infrastructure across the district. He noted that investing in education and healthcare remains essential to the development of Central Tongu.

As part of the day’s activities, the delegation also arrived at Asiekpe for the sod-cutting ceremony for the construction of a health kiosk. The project is expected to bring healthcare services closer to residents and reduce the burden on nearby health facilities.

Residents and local leaders who witnessed the inspections expressed appreciation to the MP and DCE for prioritizing development projects within the district and ensuring close monitoring of ongoing works.

The inspection tour forms part of broader efforts by the Central Tongu leadership to accelerate infrastructural development, improve healthcare delivery, and enhance educational facilities across communities in the district.
