As Ghana's Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) candidates prepare to take their first major academic milestone, lawyer, entrepreneur, and philanthropist Elsie Appau-Klu has urged them to shun all forms of examination malpractice. In a goodwill message, Appau-Klu emphasized the importance of integrity, confidence, and hard work in achieving success.
Addressing the candidates, she said, "I wish every BECE candidate success. You have prepared, your teachers have guided you, and your families are behind you. Trust your ability and give it your best." Appau-Klu, known for her work with youth and education-focused NGOs in the Volta Region, stressed that integrity must guide the examination process.
The philanthropist warned against cheating, leaks, and any attempt to compromise the exams, stating, "There are no shortcuts to lasting success. Malpractice destroys your future and the credibility of our educational system. Choose hard work over dishonesty." She also appealed to parents and guardians to support candidates with prayer and encouragement, rather than pressure that could lead to malpractice.
Appau-Klu called on stakeholders, including the West African Examinations Council (WAEC), the Ghana Education Service, and security agencies, to ensure a smooth and credible examination. "Let us protect these children and the integrity of BECE. A fair exam today builds trustworthy leaders tomorrow," she added.
As the nation gears up for the exams, Appau-Klu's message serves as a timely reminder of the importance of integrity and hard work in achieving success.
