Two Firefighters Honored for Heroic Sogakope Flood Rescue

​When severe flooding struck the Sogakofe enclaves in July 2026, threatening lives and inundating homes, two brave firefighters from the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) stepped up to face the rising waters. Leading Fire Officer (LFM) Seke Famous of the Sogakope Fire Station and Fireman (FM) Yao Addo Kumi of the Adidome Fire Station plunged into hazardous conditions to conduct critical rescue and relief operations. Navigating submerged roads and volatile currents, the duo worked tirelessly to extract trapped residents, guide families to safety, and safeguard community property during one of the area's most challenging emergency situations.

​In recognition of their extraordinary heroism and unwavering dedication, the GNFS recently honored both officers during a special commendation ceremony. LFM Famous and FM Kumi were presented with assorted presentation items as a token of deep gratitude for their selfless service to the nation. Senior officials praised their operational excellence, noting that their swift, coordinated action between neighboring stations saved countless lives and provided vital assistance to vulnerable community members in their hour of greatest need.
