Ghana EXIM Bank Selects Volta Region for New Garment and Apparel Factory

​The Ghana Export-Import (EXIM) Bank has chosen the Volta Region as the location for its upcoming Garment and Apparel Factory.

​The Chief Executive Officer of the Bank, Hon. Sylvester Mensah, shared the update during a discussion on the institution's ongoing industrialization initiatives. He explained that the region was targeted because of its strong workforce potential and favorable environment for industrial growth.

​Hon. Mensah emphasized that the factory aligns with the Bank's core mission to promote export-driven growth, lower the reliance on foreign imports, and generate long-term employment opportunities nationwide.

​"The next Garment and Apparel Factory to be established by the Ghana EXIM Bank will be located in the Volta Region. This is a deliberate step to bring industrialization closer to the people and unlock the economic potential of the region," Hon. Mensah said.

​Once operational, the facility is set to become a key center for apparel manufacturing. It aims to create thousands of direct and indirect jobs particularly targeting youth and women while elevating local skill sets in tailoring, fashion design, and textile production.

​Additionally, the project is expected to enhance Ghana’s clothing export capabilities under frameworks like the African Growth and Opportunity Act (AGOA) and provide significant support to local enterprises along the textile supply chain.
