Strengthening Ties: Ghana and China Celebrate Over Six Decades of Enduring Diplomacy

Ghana and China have reaffirmed their commitment to a historic partnership spanning over six decades during the celebration of the 77th Anniversary of the Founding of the People’s Republic of China. Representing the Government of Ghana, the Minister for Environment, Science, and Technology, Hon. Dr. Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings, joined H.E. Ambassador Cong Song and distinguished diplomats for the landmark event. Delivering the keynote remarks, she reflected on the shared journey of both nations and highlighted emerging avenues to deepen bilateral relations in trade, investment, infrastructure, science, technology, and sustainable development.

​During her address, Hon. Agyeman-Rawlings underscored that the foundation of any lasting partnership must be rooted in mutual respect and the rule of law. She urged that all commercial and developmental engagements between the two nations adhere strictly to legal frameworks, ensuring transparency and institutional integrity. As economic ties continue to expand, she emphasized that lawful and responsible governance remains non-negotiable for sustaining long-term, mutually beneficial investments.

​Addressing the environmental dimension of economic growth, the Minister cautioned against short-sighted development that threatens natural ecosystems. She stressed that economic progress should never come at the expense of public health, community well-being, or ecological balance. Sustainable practices, she noted, must be integrated into all joint initiatives to ensure that industrial advance and infrastructure building do not compromise Ghana’s rich environmental heritage.

​In her concluding remarks, Hon. Agyeman-Rawlings reiterated that true diplomatic success lies in human-centered outcomes. She asserted that strategic bilateral agreements must ultimately yield direct, visible improvements in the daily lives of citizens.
