2 min read

Torgbui Tenuvi II, also known as Akonta Felix Akakpo, has provided essential relief support to 275 flood-affected residents in Agbozume. This initiative follows a successful similar intervention earlier in Aflao. Despite being away, the traditional leader ensured the timely distribution of aid through a dedicated team, bringing much-needed assistance to communities grappling with the devastating impacts of recent floods.

The relief effort was spearheaded by his brother, Dynamic Akakpo, in collaboration with personnel from the Ketu South National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO). Items distributed included 250 kilograms of rice, 10 cartons of sardines, 200 mosquito nets, 4 sacks of maize, 200 litres of cooking oil, and 10 cartons of spaghetti. These supplies were presented to beneficiaries at the forecourt of Torgbui Hor’s Palace, offering immediate relief to families in dire need during this critical period.

Beneficiaries were drawn from the Agbozume-Logove Electoral Area, encompassing communities such as Amefinukope, Babanawokorpe, and Agbozume Zongo. Additional support reached residents in Agbozume Sokladzi and E.P. Kpota within the Agbozume North Electoral Area. The well-coordinated presentation highlighted the importance of community collaboration in addressing humanitarian crises.

Torgbui Tenuvi II expressed profound gratitude to the Assembly Members of the two electoral areas, NADMO officials, and the entire distribution team for their commitment and efficiency. He also used the occasion to address the broader national challenge of flooding, stressing that many aspects are preventable. He called for an end to building on waterways and urged local assemblies to take decisive actions to restore public confidence and foster hope for resilient communities.

As floods continue to wreak havoc across the country, Torgbui Tenuvi II extended his heartfelt solidarity to all affected individuals and offered condolences to families who lost loved ones. “It is well,” he affirmed, underscoring a message of resilience, unity, and the urgent need for pragmatic, long-term solutions to mitigate future disasters.
